It
is planned to run busking by Slatters and The Gym on College Street Circus
opposite the Dragon Hotel, and we are looking for acts to be included.
Starting
on Saturday 2nd June and running through the Summer this will become
a City Saturday outdoor entertainment from 11.30 til 3pm. Initially it will be
“weather permitting” but I am assured by the City Centre Management Team that a
covered area will be erected once we have proved that we can provide a good weekly
show.
We
are looking for bands, singers, gospel singers and choirs, mime artistes, escapologists,
circus type acts, actors, and any group individual that can give a good show. As
with all busking there is no fee but you have the opportunity to pass the hat
around together with your promotional material. Covent Garden stands out but
there are many similar regular events around the world, particular in China and
Japan.
There are regular busking spots in Swansea which you normally book through the local council. We will take responsibility and you just need to sign our regular form agreeing to abide by the local authority regulations!
This
will be a great opportunity to be seen and even to try out new numbers and
routines, particularly if you write your own music.
Being
in at the beginning will give you priority in the future as we bet more acts
wanting to take part. Provided you have a professional approach and provide a quality
act we will welcome you. Please tell others about this new project designed to
bring quality street entertainment to Swansea City, created and run by the private
sector.
The following video is of Seija Knight who has been performing at Covent Garden for a few years. She is a most talented Australian whom I met about 18 months ago and interviewed for my In Town Today internet radio show. She has agreed to come to Swansea perform and take part in Swansea TV. This will be a must see performance to watch
